As many of you know, Jeremy Kenney, our youth minister, has resigned effective May 29th, 2009. Jeremy and his family have served Alameda well, and we'll miss them greatly! We have begun the search process for a new youth minister. Below are the details on the entire search process. We hope you'll keep checking back here for updates as we go along.
Here's what we've done so far:
- Jeremy delivered his resignation to the congregation. To read his announcement, please click here.
- On Sunday, March 29th, the Elders and Ministers met with the Parent Leadership Team to get input on the qualities the team would like to see in a candidate.
- On Sunday, April 5th, some of our ministers met with the youth group students to get their input on the qualities they would like to see in their future youth minister.
- The ministers have been reaching out to their contacts at churches and universities for available candidates that we may consider for this position.
- Bill Pink has been chosen to chair the search committee.
- On Wednesday, April 15th, there was a meeting led by Bill Pink for all parents concerning the youth minister search process. Click here to listen.
- We have selected the search committee that will interview candidates and make a recommendation to the elders. They are: Bill Pink (Chair), Lori Pink (Secretary), Barry Carpenter, Randy Hendrix, Mike Hodges, Brian Jones, Kathy Corlee, Susan Helton, Debbie Jackson, Alana Knight, and Robin Parker. You can e-mail the committee here.
- We have brought in a couple of great candidates to interview with the search committee, staff and elders. They were able to meet with our youth, parents and members as well as teach a class at our Wednesday night gathering.
We want to know your thoughts. If you have input you'd like to share with us, please email Rusty Tugman at rusty.tugman@alameda-church.org.
