Matt Dowling, ministry intern at Alameda, recently sat down and conducted an interview with Oklahoma Christian University Professor of Old Testament, Dr. Harold Shank. The topic: God and violence in the Old Testament and how we as Christians can understand OT texts that seem to divinely sanction violence.
What emerges in this interview is the powerful testimony that we serve a God who loves and deeply desires relationship with us. We serve a God who will rescue and deliver the hurting and suffering masses in this world, and He will not tolerate wickedness from those who wish to do evil.
Dr. Shank also shares his wisdom on how the Christian disciple can draw near to the heart of God and then he closes by sharing a prayer of blessing for all believers at Alameda. This interview accompanies the sermon Rusty will preach on Sunday, March 20th, 2011.
